The National Research and Education Networks that make up RedCLARA invite the region’s academic, scientific and health communities to take part in a new RUTE-ALC session, dedicated to analysing the double burden of malnutrition and the comprehensive responses required in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This Wednesday, 21 October, specialists from Ecuador and Chile will share evidence and perspectives on a paradox affecting numerous communities: the coexistence of hunger and obesity, linked to persistent inequalities and food systems that still limit access to nutritious and affordable food.
During the session, Diana Elizabeth Morales Avilez, from the University of Cuenca, and Fanny Petermann-Rocha, from Diego Portales University, will address factors such as poverty, urbanisation and public policy, and will discuss strategies for food security, nutrition education and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The session will last 90 minutes and will begin at 9.00 in Mexico and Costa Rica, 10.00 in Colombia and Ecuador, and 12.00 in Brazil and Chile. Participation requires prior registration on the RCC platform.
