On 21 August at 4.00 pm UTC, CopernicusLAC Chile will host the webinar ‘Harpía Watch Forest: Satellite Forest Monitoring’, an open event inviting RedCLARA members and the scientific community in Latin America and the Caribbean to watch the live stream via the CopernicusLAC Chile YouTube channel. The talk will be presented by Yubrany González and Elvis García, engineers from the Remote Sensing Department of the Panamanian Ministry of the Environment.
(By: Scarlette Araya, CopernicusLAC Chile) The talk will present an automated system for monitoring forest cover in Panama using satellite imagery and remote sensing techniques. It will cover the methodology used to detect changes in vegetation cover using Sentinel-2 imagery, spectral indices such as the NDVI, and temporal analysis algorithms. Furthermore, the main results obtained will be presented, along with the system’s capabilities in supporting environmental monitoring and its contribution to decision-making for the conservation and sustainable management of forest resources.
RedCLARA members and the scientific community in Latin America and the Caribbean are hereby invited to tune in and follow this live stream on the CopernicusLAC Chile YouTube channel at: https://bit.ly/seminario21agosto
