BELLA II and LNET to Promote Blockchain Solutions for International Trade at the Third Ibero-American Symposium

BELLA II and LNET to Promote Blockchain Solutions for International Trade at the Third Ibero-American Symposium

The Third Ibero-American Symposium on Blockchain and Cybersecurity, to be held on November 20–21 at the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile, will serve as a platform to exchange experiences and present research and use cases of blockchain technology in international trade.

The Symposium is an initiative of the Ibero-American Network for Blockchain and Cybersecurity (RIBCI), jointly organized with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Ibero-American Program on Science and Technology for Development (CYTED), the University of Chile, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). It is also supported by RedCLARA, a founding member of RIBCI.

During the event, Carlos González, Manager of Services at RedCLARA, and Luis Bocchi, representative of LNET, will present the conference titled “Strengthening the Digital Infrastructure of Latin American Trade: The RedCLARA BELLA II Blockchain Testbed as a Catalyst for Regional Innovation.” The presentation will demonstrate how this experimental platform drives real, high-impact use cases in trade and other strategic sectors across the region.

Among the standout cases developed on LNET’s networks—RedCLARA’s technology partner for the BELLA II Blockchain Testbed—are the CADENA project, which modernizes customs data exchange among eight Latin American countries by streamlining procedures, increasing transparency, and improving the traceability of trade operations, and AgroWeb3, a platform that helps local producers access international markets by providing digital tools to track products, ensure quality, and optimize logistics.

Both projects run on the same blockchain infrastructure that underpins the testbed and exemplify the potential of this technology to strengthen regional competitiveness in strategic sectors.

BELLA II is a project led by RedCLARA and co-funded by the European Union, aimed at strengthening the regional digital ecosystem. LNET integrates blockchain infrastructure, solution development, and ecosystem creation to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies.

“This is a strategic opportunity to share knowledge and consolidate regional collaboration. The BELLA II Blockchain Testbed drives the development of innovative solutions with high potential in international trade. At RedCLARA, in collaboration with LNET, we have made a firm commitment: to enable a secure, accessible, and regulated environment for blockchain experimentation, ensuring both regulatory compliance and protection against emerging threats,” González stated.

The Symposium will bring together academics, researchers, professionals, and representatives from the public and private sectors across Ibero-America, in a collaborative space aimed at strengthening regional digital infrastructure and promoting the responsible use of emerging technologies for more transparent, traceable, and competitive trade.

The symposium offers a unique opportunity to update knowledge, exchange experiences, and explore practical applications of blockchain in international trade and other strategic sectors in the region.
